Journey the Texas coast!
I was at Ohio State when Ronald Reagon became president of the United States promising to make our country great again, and Woody Hayes was fired as head coach when he punched the Clemson player who intercepted the Buckeye’s last drive in the 1978 Orange Bowl.
By chance, I got to meet both legends, Wood Hayes when he gave me a ride across campus to ask if “I hated him” and Ronald Reagon when he commissioned me for the program he just implemented to rebuild the military.
I spent the first half of my life as an Air Force Office and software developer-entrepreneur always traveling, an estimated 4 million miles in 20 years. I sold my last software company, called AssetWorks in 1999, but ran into problems, got back up in 2003 and exiled myself to the Texas coast.
The Texas coast was so much more than the simple image I had envisioned, for starters, it’s always changing from big developments and big storms, called Hurricanes.
I “fell in love” with the unique charm of the region, and continuing my wandering ways, uniquely discovered its history by moving every six months and working with the major developers for over 10 years.
The blog is about what it’s like to become part of the world’s most energizing coastline. About the attraction, the region has for Ex-pirates. How people often come to get-away but find redemption and a place to call home.
The Journey
- Somehow, lived in each area and hom e type
- South Padre Island, Port Aransas, Galveston and Crystal Beach.
- A Highrise, Beach Home, Bay Home, Condominium, Boat and RV…
- The people beyond tourism
- Everyone loves the beach and bay;
so the beach naturally draws family and friends together.
- Everyone loves the beach and bay;
- Property values up & down like the tide
- This is a cyclical hotspot; but way more so when a big storm hits.
- One day you’re basking in the sun, the next…
- Personal tenacity
- Lessons learned from recent storms; they finally know how to build homes & highrises hurricane proof.
There is a weird & wonderful energy on the coast, the sunrises and sunsets are breath-taking; the storms are frightening; property value goes up & down like the tide; yet it has a way of making you a better person. New friends and pictures make it home.
